Symposium 1: GEJ cancer - General Principle

Gastroesophageal junction (GEJ) cancer has distinctive clinicopathologic characteristics and treatment strategies. This session will cover general principles and treatment modalities of GEJ cancer from various perspectives including surgeons, gastroenterologists, and oncologists.

Symposium 2: Splenic hilar LN dissection for proximal gastric cancer

Standard surgery for advanced proximal gastric carcinoma requires complete dissection of lymph nodes at the splenic hilum. However, the optimal surgical approach and therapeutic efficacy of splenic hilar lymph node dissection is still controversial. In this session, we will review recent research on the therapeutic efficacy of splenic hilar lymph node dissection and clinicopathological features associated with splenic hilar lymph node metastasis. We will also discuss the technical details of operative techniques for splenic hilar lymph node dissection.

Symposium 5: Peritoneal carcinomatosis in gastric cancer

Peritoneal carcinomatosisis is the most prevalent and gravest form of metastatic gastric cancer with poor prognostic factors which don’t respond to conventional systemic chemotherapy. Therefore, multi-modal treatments including surgery, intraperitoneal and systemic chemotherapy are needed. Also, further therapeutic forms such as PIPAC for IP chemotherapy could be more promising strategies for this dismal disease.
